
Steve Jobs has just announced the iPhone OS 4.0 today. The new OS offers lots of new features and improvements. But the most notably is the multitasking support for the iPhone. The iPhone OS 4.0 will be in this summer. And it seems the first generation iPhone won’t be compatible with the OS 4.0.
And for those who already get iPad, iPhone OS 4.0 will available on this fall. You can check the current active task by double click the home button. Here’s some major features on iPhone OS 4.0:
- Multitasking.
- Spell check (same as on the iPad).
- Supports Bluetooth keyboard (as on iPad).
- Able to set wallpaper.
- 5x digital zoom for the camera and tap to focus when recording video.
- Able to create playlist and nested it.
- App folders for sort your apps.
- Mail enhancement. You can got merged inbox view, threaded messaging and in-app attachment viewing. Switching between inboxes quickly is also possible along with sync to multiple Exchange account.
- iBooks, smaller version of iPad’s iBooks. You can sync between device like Kindle does.
- Enterprise features, including remote device management and wireless app distribution.
- Game Center. It’s iPhone’s XBox live version. There’s leaderboards, achievements, and match making. Currently it’s still only available for developer for preview, user will got it on the end of this year.
