Motorola i296 has just passed the FCC. iDEN based phones just do not have the star ability that’s discovered on other eccentrics of handsets – that’s partially because they target a particular marketplace as contrary to attracting to a broader audience. That’s also the reason why handsets like the Motorola i296, which passed over the FCC, get so little attention while they make their debut. It supports the 800 and 900 MHz iDEN bands, features Bluetooth, and has support for Motorola’s MOTO Talk technology – that’s where phoners can still make short range push-to-talk call option to other handsets without actually being connected to the network. That’s about it for right now – no words on pricing or availability date, but it will probably pop up on Sprint’s lineup some time soon.
