Skyfire offers a great choice for mobile phone browser. After 473 days of beta testing, Skyfire finally hit version 1.0. Skyfire’s biggest features is its ability to handle multimedia formats like Silverlight and Flash. During the beta period, Skyfire already has over 1 million users. 1 out of 3 of those users uses Skyfire at least 3 times a day. Skyfire users tend to use it primarily on browsing full-featured websites. Facebook, Gmail, Myspace, Hulu, and Youtube is the most popular website open using Skyfire.
In the official version, Skyfire offers better features than its beta:
* Improved Zoom: Smoothly transitions on zoom out and zoom out (not directly jump between screen).
* Improved start times: You can type the URLs and search using the “Superbar” directly after they appear. Previously, you must wait until the start page appear.
* Thumbnail Interaction: In Skyfire version 1.0, as long as the clink visible, you can click it. On the beta version, you must zoom it first.
* iFrame handling improvements
* Last state reconnection: When you minimize it, now Skyfire will load the latest page you opened. Previously, it will show start page.
* AJAX performance enhancements
* Skyfire will show you at the exact position and zoom level you left at when returning to a previous page.
Some flaw stilll exist though. Sometimes the loading bar is stuck on 95% and you must restart the browser to enable it again. You can download Skyfire on Symbian S60 or Windows Mobile here.
